About the school

CLIP โ€” Oporto International School (Colรฉgio Luso-Internacional do Porto) is a non-profit private international school founded in 1988 and opened in 1990, located between Foz do Douro and central Porto in one of the city's most desirable residential areas. With around 1,000 students from 40+ nationalities โ€” 35% of the student body international โ€” CLIP is the second most established international school in Porto after OBS. The school follows the National Curriculum for England, adapted to CLIP's own philosophical and pedagogical objectives, and offers both an English-stream and a bilingual Portuguese/English stream. This dual-stream model makes CLIP popular with Portuguese families seeking bilingual education as well as expat families. The curriculum leads to Cambridge IGCSE and the Cambridge AICE Diploma (A-Level equivalent). CLIP has been fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) since 2013. The school hosts the annual Oporto Model United Nations (OPOMUN) โ€” now in its 19th edition โ€” one of the most prestigious MUN conferences in Iberia, attracting 250+ student delegates from international schools across the region. Strong EAL (English as an Additional Language) support is available within the academic programme. The school is 12 minutes' walk from Parque Real Metro (Blue Line) and served by bus lines 501 and 205.
